The DSP Retiree Certification Process is being modified to comply with the now mandated Department of Justice's Retiree Qualification Course. These modifications will allow for Retired DSP personnel to obtain certification through a DOJ certified Firearms instructor at any location where offered outside of the Academy. Paper work, certification card and other logistics will still need to be filed with the DSP Office of the Academy. A Frequently Asked Questions with the new course and requirements is posted below. If you have questions please contact Sergeant Bob DeFrang at the WSPA 608.269.2500 Ext. 3136 or via email at email@example.com
January 28th, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. is the next Qualification Date at the Academy. You will need to contact the Academy Registrar and complete a Program Enrollment Application, located above on this page. In addition to the enrollment application you will also need to complete and forward the WSP ID Card Information Sheet and Statement of Verification as well as the Academy Program Enrollment Application to the Academy (mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org) . If you have not had an ID photo taken with in the past 5 years, you will need to get one taken at the Academy for the ID card. As noted in the changes you can obtain a certificate from any LESB certified Firearms instructor at a location near you, but that will be at your own cost in addition to the $ 15.00 Card fee.
More qualification dates will be posted as the Regions respond. Last year's feed back was positive in regards to retirees being able to qualify closer to home, so we will schedule events as time permits at the Regions. Continue to monitor this training page for updates.
New Qualification Standards, equipment requirements and Course of Fire can be located in the "Course of Fire and Requirements Manual"
